Wednesday, October 26th

Quick Recap of the Day:

Language Arts: All Reading Groups met and read/reread their assigned story, practiced their sight words, and focused on their comprehension skill of the week (compare/contrast, story structure and summarizing, fantasy vs. realism). Homework for tonight is to keep practicing their sight words until mastery and sort spelling words. Any written spelling work, should be done in the back of their composition book.

Math: We are working on naming fractions and adding and subtracting fractions.

Science A: We had a test today on our Space and Sky Unit.

Science B: Today was our last work day. Final Reports are due on Monday, October 31 (typed or printed). Presentations will be that day as well, so if you have a visual project bring it to class on Monday too.

Writer's Workshop: We began our discussion of "Techniques that Writers Use to Make Their Writing Sound Good." We opened with the technique of using and making up sound words. We like to learn from other writers, so we looked at how the author of "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything" uses sound words to make her writing fun and interesting.
