Back from Break....hope everyone had a lovely holiday!
Today, we focused in on character studies and working on writing character sketches. We read about Paul Bunyan and his blue ox and did a character sketch for both Paul and Babe. This week, we will keep practicing this skill, finalizing with one for the main character in our independent reading novel that will be displayed on our poster boards. (A note will be sent out in your student's homework folder, but your student will need a Tri-fold poster display board soon.)
In Science A, we discussed all the different ways we use our natural resources, how we can conserve them, how quickly or slowly they can be replaced, and why it's important to protect them. In Science B, we are switching from slow changes to quick changes of the Earth's surface. Today, we built popsicle stick structures on "paper plate fault lines" and on Wednesday we will simulate earthquakes based on the Moment Magnitude Scale.
